Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. It takes you through beautiful mountains, small villages, and amazing landscapes. The trek is in the Annapurna mountain range, which is known for its stunning views and variety of nature. This trek is special because you get to see different cultures, wildlife, and many different types of plants along the way.
The Annapurna Circuit starts in Besisahar, a town about 6 to 8 hours from Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. From there, the trek takes you through many small villages. These villages are home to people from different cultures, such as the Gurung and Thakali people. You will see how they live, their homes, and the beautiful farmland they grow.
One of the highlights of the Annapurna Circuit is crossing the Thorong La Pass. This is the highest point of the trek, at 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). It’s not easy to reach, but the views from the top are amazing. You can see many snow-covered peaks and beautiful valleys. To stay safe at this high point, trekkers need to take things slow and prepare for the altitude.
As you trek, you will pass through different climates. At the beginning, you walk through lush forests with tall trees and lots of green. As you go higher, the climate gets colder and you will see more rocky landscapes and snow-capped mountains. The trek also takes you through the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is home to many animals like snow leopards, Himalayan tahr, and different kinds of birds.
The trek usually takes around 12 to 21 days, depending on your speed and how many rest days you take. Along the way, there are teahouses where you can stop to eat and rest. These teahouses are simple but provide a warm bed and delicious food, like dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos (dumplings), and soup.
Overall, the Annapurna Circuit Trek is an amazing adventure. It gives you a chance to see beautiful nature, meet local people, and experience the magic of the Himalayas. Whether you’re new to trekking or have some experience, this trek is something you’ll always remember.
