Overview

The Langtang with Gosaikundha Trek is an exciting adventure in the beautiful mountains of Nepal. This trek takes you to two amazing places: Langtang Valley and Gosaikundha Lake. You will walk through forests, villages, and high mountains, seeing breathtaking views along the way.

Langtang Valley is known for its rich nature and culture. You'll walk through green forests full of rhododendron trees and see snow-capped peaks. The people in this area, mostly Tamang and Sherpa, have a special way of life, and you'll get to experience their culture and traditions.

Day 1: Arriving in Kathmandu and Trip Preparation (1,400 meters)

On Day 1 of the Langtang with Gosaikundha Trek, you will arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The day starts with you landing at the airport, where you will be greeted by your trekking guide. After meeting everyone, you will head to your hotel to rest and relax.

In the afternoon, you will have a trip briefing. This is when your guide will explain all the important details about the trek, including the route, safety tips, and what to expect each day. It’s also a good time for you to ask any questions or share any concerns you might have.

Kathmandu is a busy city full of life, with colorful markets and many places to visit. But today, it’s about getting ready for the adventure ahead. You can take a short walk around the city, check out some local shops, and enjoy a nice meal.

This day is important to rest, get prepared, and feel excited about the upcoming trek. The next day, you will start your journey, so make sure to get a good night’s sleep. It’s the beginning of an unforgettable adventure in the beautiful mountains of Nepal.

Day 2: Drive to Syabrubensi (1,460 meters)

On Day 2, you will leave Kathmandu and drive to Syabrubensi, a small village where your trek begins. The drive takes around 7-8 hours, so it’s a long day, but the journey is very interesting. You will drive along a busy road, passing by green hills, rivers, and small villages. The road goes through the countryside, and you can see local life as you drive.

As you get closer to Syabrubensi, the scenery changes. You will see the mountains starting to appear in the distance, giving you a preview of the beautiful trek ahead. The drive can be a little bumpy, but it’s part of the adventure, and it makes you even more excited to start the trek the next day.

When you reach Syabrubensi, you’ll check into your guesthouse, where you can rest after the long drive. This village is quiet and peaceful, with only a few shops and houses. It’s a perfect place to get ready for the trek. You’ll have some time to relax, have a nice dinner, and enjoy the beautiful mountain views around the village. Tomorrow, you will begin your trek into the Langtang Valley.

Day 3: Syabrubesi Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480 meters)

On Day 3, you will begin your trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel. The day starts with a morning walk along a beautiful trail that follows the Langtang River. As you walk, you will pass through small villages and cross a few suspension bridges. The trail is surrounded by forests of pine and rhododendron trees, which create a peaceful atmosphere.

The walk today is not too difficult, but it’s a gradual uphill climb. As you move higher, the air will get thinner, so it’s important to take it slow and drink plenty of water. Along the way, you might see some wildlife like monkeys or birds. The sounds of the river and the forest make the walk even more relaxing.

After around 5-6 hours of walking, you will reach Lama Hotel, a small village where you will stop for the night. The guesthouses here are simple but comfortable. Once you arrive, you can relax and enjoy a warm meal. This is a good time to rest and enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding nature. Tomorrow, the trek continues as you head further into the Langtang Valley.

Day 4: Lama Hotel Trek to Langtang (3,430 meters)

On Day 4, you will continue your trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang, a beautiful village in the Langtang Valley. The trail today is a bit longer and goes higher in altitude, so it’s important to take your time and enjoy the journey.

As you walk, you will notice the scenery changing. The forests start to thin out, and you will see more open spaces with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. You will pass by small villages, where local people will greet you along the way. The trail goes up gradually, and you might feel the air getting thinner as you get higher, but the views make it all worth it.

Along the way, you will pass a place called Ghodatabela, a small spot where you can take a break and enjoy some snacks. After a few more hours of walking, you will reach Langtang village, which is surrounded by stunning views of the mountains. It’s a peaceful place, and you’ll find simple guesthouses where you can relax.

After checking in, you can enjoy the views, rest, and explore the village a little. The next day, you will continue your adventure through the beautiful Langtang Valley.

Day 5: Langtang Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,850 meters)

On Day 5, you will trek from Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa. This is an exciting day because Kyanjin Gompa is a special place with beautiful mountain views. The trek today is not too long, but it goes uphill as you get closer to Kyanjin Gompa.

As you walk, you will pass through more small villages and see grazing areas where yaks and other animals live. The trail is surrounded by tall, snow-capped mountains, and you will notice the air getting thinner as you climb higher.

After a few hours of walking, you will reach Kyanjin Gompa. This is a peaceful village with a famous Buddhist monastery, which is where the name comes from. The monastery is a special place for local people, and it’s nice to visit and learn about their culture. From Kyanjin Gompa, you can also enjoy stunning views of the mountains, including Langtang Lirung and other peaks that stand tall above you.

When you arrive, you can relax at the guesthouse, enjoy a warm meal, and rest. This is a great place to explore a bit and get ready for the next day’s adventure. Tomorrow, you will have a chance to explore the area around Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 6: Day Hiking to Tseku Ri and Back to Kyanjin Gompa (4,700 meters)

On Day 6, you will go on a day hike to Tseku Ri, a high point near Kyanjin Gompa. It’s a great chance to see some of the most amazing mountain views on your trek. The hike is a bit challenging because you will be going higher in altitude, but the reward is worth it.

The trail to Tseku Ri starts from Kyanjin Gompa and goes uphill. As you walk, you will feel the air getting thinner, so it’s important to take it slow and enjoy the scenery. The higher you go, the better the views become. You will see stunning mountains like Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and other snow-covered peaks. The view from Tseku Ri is one of the highlights of the trek, and it will make all the effort feel worth it.

After reaching Tseku Ri, you will take some time to enjoy the views, rest, and take pictures. Then, you will head back down the same trail to Kyanjin Gompa. Once you arrive, you can relax at your guesthouse and have a warm meal. It’s a day full of adventure, and tomorrow, you will continue your trek towards the next part of the journey.

Day 7: Kyanjin Gompa Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480 meters)

On Day 7, you will trek back from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. After spending time at Kyanjin Gompa and enjoying the mountain views, it’s time to head back down the valley. The trail today is mostly downhill, making it easier than the past few days, but you should still take your time and enjoy the walk.

As you descend, you will pass through beautiful landscapes, including forests and villages. The air will get thicker as you go lower, which will make breathing easier. You will also see more yaks grazing and people working in the fields. The trail follows the Langtang River again, and you’ll hear the calming sound of the river as you walk.

After walking for several hours, you will arrive back at Lama Hotel. This is a nice place to rest after the long day of trekking. You can relax, have a warm meal, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. It’s a good time to reflect on the beautiful sights you’ve seen so far and get ready for the next part of your journey. Tomorrow, you will continue your trek towards the next destination on your adventure.

Day 8: Lama Hotel Trek to Thulo Syabru (2,250 meters)

On Day 8, you will leave Lama Hotel and trek to Thulo Syabru, a beautiful village in the Langtang region. The trail today is a mix of uphill and downhill walking, which makes the trek a little more exciting. As you walk, you will pass through lush forests filled with pine and rhododendron trees. The peaceful sounds of nature, like birds chirping and the wind through the trees, will make the journey enjoyable.

During the trek, you will also pass small villages where you can see how local people live and work. The local Tamang people are very friendly, and you may get a chance to wave or say hello as you walk. The trail offers lovely views of the surrounding mountains and the valley below, making every step worthwhile.

After a few hours of walking, you will reach Thulo Syabru. This village is quiet and peaceful, with only a few houses and guesthouses. When you arrive, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the hills and mountains. You will have a warm meal, rest, and prepare for the next day of trekking. Tomorrow, you will continue your adventure further into the Langtang region.

Day 9: Syabru Village to Singh Gompa (3,330 meters)

On Day 9, you will leave Syabru Village and trek to Singh Gompa. The trail today is a little steeper, so it will take some effort, but the journey is very rewarding. As you walk, you will pass through forests filled with tall trees, and the air will start to feel cooler as you climb higher.

Along the way, you might spot some wildlife like monkeys or birds. The peaceful sound of the wind in the trees and the birds singing will make your trek even more enjoyable. The path will take you through a few small villages, where you can see local people living their daily lives.

After a few hours of walking, you will reach Singh Gompa, a peaceful place with a Buddhist monastery. This area is known for its beautiful views of the mountains and the surrounding nature. The monastery is an important religious site, and you might get a chance to visit and learn about its significance.

When you arrive at Singh Gompa, you will have time to relax, enjoy a warm meal, and take in the stunning scenery. The day has been a good mix of walking, nature, and culture, and tomorrow, you will continue your trek to the next destination.

Day 10: Singh Gompa to Gosaikund Lake (4,380 meters)

On Day 10, you will trek from Singh Gompa to Gosaikund Lake, which is a special and beautiful place. The trail today will be a bit tougher because you will be going higher in altitude. It’s important to walk slowly and take regular breaks to stay comfortable.

The journey takes you through forests and open spaces with amazing views of the mountains. As you get higher, the air will get thinner, so you should take it slow and drink plenty of water. Along the way, you may pass small groups of yaks grazing in the meadows.

After a few hours of walking, you will finally reach Gosaikund Lake. This lake is considered sacred by many people, and it’s a peaceful spot surrounded by tall mountains. The water of the lake is clear and beautiful, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty around you.

When you arrive at Gosaikund Lake, you can rest, take in the stunning views, and reflect on your trek so far. This is a special place, and you can spend some time exploring before heading back down the next day. It’s a day filled with amazing scenery and a sense of peace.

Day 11: Explore Holy Gosaikund Lake and Trek Down to Chandanbari (Singh Gompa) (3,300 meters)

On Day 11, you will have the chance to explore the beautiful and holy Gosaikund Lake before heading back down to Chandanbari. The morning will be peaceful as you walk around the lake, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Gosaikund Lake is considered sacred, and many people come here for religious reasons. You can enjoy the quiet, cool air and the beauty of the lake before beginning your trek down.

After spending some time by the lake, you will begin your trek down to Chandanbari, also known as Singh Gompa. The path will be mostly downhill, which can be easier on your legs, but you still need to be careful on the rocky and uneven trail. As you descend, you will pass through forests and small villages, and you might spot wildlife like birds and monkeys along the way.

When you reach Chandanbari, you can relax at the guesthouse and enjoy a warm meal. This village is a great place to rest after the long trek. You can reflect on your time at Gosaikund and get ready for the next day of your journey. Tomorrow, you will continue your trek towards the next destination.

Day 12: Trekking from Chandanbari to Dhunche (1,965 meters)

On Day 12, you will trek from Chandanbari to Dhunche. The trail today is mostly downhill, making it a bit easier on your legs after the past few days of trekking. As you walk, you will pass through beautiful forests and small villages, where you can see local people going about their daily life. The weather will be pleasant, and you will enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of nature along the way.

As you get closer to Dhunche, you will begin to see more signs of life, like shops and homes. Dhunche is a small town where you can relax after your trek. When you arrive, you can rest and enjoy the surroundings.

In the evening, you will have a special dinner with your guide and porter. This is a great time to thank them for all their help during the trek. They have been guiding and supporting you throughout the journey, and this meal will be a chance to share stories, enjoy local food, and reflect on the amazing adventure you’ve had.

After dinner, you can rest and get ready for the journey back to Kathmandu the next day. It’s a nice way to end the trek with your new friends.

Day 13: Drive Back to Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

On Day 13, you will leave Dhunche and drive back to Kathmandu. The drive will take several hours, but it will be a scenic journey. As you travel, you will pass through beautiful countryside with green hills, rivers, and villages. The roads can be bumpy at times, but the views along the way will make it interesting. You will see how life in the mountains is different from the city, and you may even spot some animals and locals working in the fields.

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will have time to relax and enjoy the busy city again. You can explore a little or rest in your hotel before your evening company dinner.

In the evening, the company will host a special dinner for you, your guide, and the porter. This is a time to celebrate the end of your trek and to thank everyone for their hard work. You can share your favorite memories from the trek, talk about the amazing experiences, and enjoy some delicious local food. It’s a nice way to end the adventure and appreciate the support you had during the journey.

After dinner, you can rest and reflect on your wonderful time in the mountains. Tomorrow, you will have a free day in Kathmandu before your trip home.

Day 14: Departure Day (1,400 meters)

On Day 14, it is time to say goodbye to Nepal and head home. After a wonderful trek through Langtang and Gosaikund, you will have a final breakfast in Kathmandu. Depending on your flight time, you will have a little free time to relax or do some last-minute shopping. You can buy souvenirs or enjoy a walk around the city before you leave.

Your guide will help you with your departure arrangements and make sure everything is in order for your flight. If you need assistance with transportation to the airport, they will make sure you get there safely and on time. The drive to the airport will take around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.

As you board your flight and fly home, you can reflect on your amazing trekking adventure. You will carry with you beautiful memories of the mountains, the peaceful lakes, the friendly people you met, and the stunning views you saw. The Langtang and Gosaikund trek has been a journey full of discovery, nature, and adventure.

It is customary in Nepal to tip your lead guides and filled crew . You can give tips to your lead guide end of your trip, which will then be shared with the whole team. As part of our transparency initiative, the lead guide will distribute the tips to the guides and porters in your presence. A good rule of thumb is to budget around $ 150 USD per client you need to collect tips, and although the amount you give is entirely your choice.
