Overview
Mardi Himal Trek is a beautiful and fun adventure in Nepal. It is a great option for people who want to explore nature but without the crowds. The trek takes you to Mardi Himal, a mountain that stands tall at 5,587 meters (18,330 feet). It is not as famous as other mountains like Everest or Annapurna, but it offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks.
The Mardi Himal Trek is perfect for beginners and families because it’s not too difficult. It usually takes around 9 days to complete the trek. The route is well-marked, so you don’t need to worry about getting lost. You will walk through lush forests, beautiful villages, and high meadows. Along the way, you can see animals like monkeys, goats, and different kinds of birds. The trail is filled with beautiful flowers, especially during spring, when the rhododendron trees bloom.
The trek starts in a town called Kande, which is easy to reach from Pokhara. From there, you hike up through forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron trees. As you get higher, you will start to see amazing views of mountains like Annapurna, Machapuchare (also known as Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. The higher you go, the more the landscape changes from green forests to rocky paths.
One of the highlights of the trek is reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp. From here, you get a clear view of Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Machapuchare. It’s a perfect place for taking pictures and enjoying the beauty of the Himalayas. The trek ends with a descent back to Siding village and then a drive back to Pokhara.
The best time to do the Mardi Himal Trek is in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these times, the weather is clear, and the views are incredible. You will also meet friendly locals who live in small villages along the way.
