Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

On the first day of your Tsum Valley Trek adventure, you will arrive in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Kathmandu is a busy city with lots of people, colorful markets, and beautiful temples. Once you arrive, you will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel.

You will have time to rest and settle in. Kathmandu is full of interesting places to explore, and you can take a short walk around the city to see the sights. There are temples, markets, and streets filled with life. The city also has many shops where you can buy trekking gear if you need anything.

In the evening, you will meet your guide and fellow trekkers. Your guide will give you an overview of the trek and answer any questions you may have. You will also have time to enjoy a delicious Nepali dinner and get ready for the trek ahead.

Kathmandu is a great place to begin your journey, offering a mix of culture, history, and adventure. The next day, you will fly to a smaller town and start your trek, so take it easy and enjoy your first day in Nepal.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola (900 meters)

On Day 2, you will leave Kathmandu and begin your journey to Machha Khola, a small village located along the way to Tsum Valley. The drive will take around 6 to 7 hours, and during the ride, you will see the beautiful countryside of Nepal. The road winds through valleys, forests, and rivers, offering views of the stunning green hills and terraced fields.

As you drive, you will cross several bridges over rivers like the Trishuli River. The road can be bumpy at times, but the views are worth it. You will also pass by small villages where you can see locals going about their daily lives, working in the fields, or walking along the road.

Once you arrive in Machha Khola, you will settle into a simple lodge for the night. The village is small and peaceful, with a few houses and guesthouses. You will have some time to relax and enjoy the quiet surroundings. Dinner will be served at the lodge, where you can try local dishes and rest before starting your trek the next day.

Day 3: Trek to Jagat (1,340 meters)

On Day 3, your trek begins in the morning as you leave Machha Khola and head towards Jagat. The trail will take you through a beautiful landscape of forests, small villages, and the sound of rivers flowing nearby. You will walk along the river for a while, crossing small bridges and passing by fields where locals grow crops like corn and rice.

As you walk, you will notice the surroundings changing. The path slowly climbs up through the lush green forests, offering cool shade as you trek. The sound of the water flowing will make the walk feel peaceful and calm.

As you walk, you will begin to notice the local culture more. The path takes you through small villages where the houses are built with stones and wooden roofs. The trek to Chumling takes about 5 to 6 hours, and as you get closer to the village, you will start to see stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Day 6: Trek to Chhokang Paro (3,010 meters)

On Day 6, you will leave Chumling and begin your trek to Chhokang Paro, a village higher up in the Tsum Valley. You will walk along a river, crossing small wooden bridges, and passing by quiet villages where you can see local life up close.

As you walk higher, the views of the surrounding mountains and valleys will become even more stunning. After about 5 to 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Chhokang Paro. This village is small, but it has a beautiful view of the Tsum Valley. The houses here are traditional, made of stone and wood. Chhokang Paro is a quiet and peaceful place to relax before continuing your trek further into the Tsum Valley.

Day 7: Trek to Nile (3,361 meters)

On Day 7, you will leave Chhokang Paro and head towards the village of Nile. The walk today will be a little longer, taking you deeper into the Tsum Valley. As you start your trek, you will follow a well-marked path through the hills. The scenery is amazing, with views of the valley and tall snow-capped mountains surrounding you.

You will pass through small villages and see local people working in their fields or caring for animals. The path continues to climb higher, and you will start to feel the altitude as you go. The air will be cooler, and you will notice fewer trees and more open landscapes.

After trekking for about 5 to 6 hours, you will reach the village of Nile. It is a peaceful place with amazing views of the mountains. The village is located at a high altitude, and the environment is calm and quiet. When you arrive, you can relax in a local guesthouse and enjoy a warm meal. Nile is a great place to rest and take in the beauty of the surrounding area before continuing your journey further into the Tsum Valley.

Day 8: Hike to Mu Gompa and Dhephu Doma Gompa (3,700 meters)

On Day 8, you will leave Nile and hike to Mu Gompa, the highest point of your trek. The hike today will take you through beautiful and peaceful surroundings. As you walk, you will notice the landscape becoming more open, with fewer trees and more mountain views. The trail can be a bit steep at times, but the scenery around you makes it a very rewarding journey.

Mu Gompa is an important Buddhist monastery, and it is a peaceful place where you can learn about the local culture and spirituality. The monks who live here follow the traditional Tibetan way of life. You will have time to explore the monastery, see its ancient prayer walls, and enjoy the calm atmosphere.

After visiting Mu Gompa, you will hike to Dhephu Doma Gompa, another important Buddhist site nearby. This monastery is also a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. The views from both monasteries are amazing, with snow-capped mountains all around you. After your visit, you will return to the village of Nile for the night. Day 9: Trek to Rachen Gompa (3,240 meters)

On Day 9, you will leave the village of Nile and trek back towards Rachen Gompa. The walk will take you through more beautiful mountain scenery, with the trail leading you along narrow paths and past small villages. The landscape around you will continue to change as you walk, with more open spaces and stunning views of the high mountains.

As you walk, you will pass by traditional stone houses and see the locals working in the fields. The trail climbs up and down through the hills, giving you great views of the valley below. The air will be cooler as you continue to trek at a higher altitude, and you may start to feel a little tired, but the journey is peaceful and beautiful.

After about 5 to 6 hours of walking, you will reach Rachen Gompa, a Buddhist monastery in the area. This monastery is a calm and quiet place, where you can rest and enjoy the surroundings. Rachen Gompa is an important site for locals and has a peaceful atmosphere. You will stay in a nearby guesthouse for the night, where you can relax and prepare for the next day of your trek.

Day 10: Trek to Dumje (2,460 meters)

On Day 10, you will leave Rachen Gompa and begin your trek towards Dumje. The path today will take you down the valley, offering a chance to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and beautiful views of the mountains. The trail will lead you through forests and small villages, where you can see local people going about their daily routines.

As you walk, you will cross a few rivers and pass by fields where people grow crops. The air will feel fresher, and the temperature will be more comfortable as you descend to a lower altitude. The trail can be a bit steep in some areas, but it is not too difficult.

After walking for about 5 to 6 hours, you will arrive in Dumje, a small village where you can rest and relax. Tomorrow, you will continue your trek towards other villages in the Tsum Valley.

Day 11: Trek to Lokpa (2,030 meters)

On Day 11, you will leave Dumje and begin your trek back towards Lokpa. The path today will take you through a mix of forests, small villages, and beautiful valleys. As you walk, you will cross several rivers, pass by green fields, and get to see local people working in their farms. The trail is mostly downhill, so it will be easier compared to the previous days.

While trekking, you will have more chances to enjoy the quiet and peaceful surroundings. The fresh air, tall trees, and the sound of the river will make the walk feel relaxing. You may also pass by more friendly villagers who will greet you as you go by.

After about 5 to 6 hours of walking, you will reach Lokpa, the village where you stayed earlier in the trek. Lokpa is a lovely village surrounded by mountains and forests. You will stay in a simple guesthouse where you can rest, enjoy a warm meal, and relax after the day’s trek. The village is a great place to reflect on the beautiful journey you’ve had so far. Tomorrow, you will continue your trek towards the next destination in the Tsum Valley.

Day 12: Trek to Jagat (1,300 meters)

On Day 12, you will leave Lokpa and head back to Jagat, a small village where you started your trek. The walk today will take you through more beautiful forests and along rivers. As you go, you will see some of the same peaceful scenery from earlier in your journey. The path is mostly downhill, making the trek easier.

You will pass through villages and see locals going about their daily life. The landscape will change as you get closer to Jagat, with more open fields and a few more houses along the way. The air will feel warmer as you descend to a lower altitude, making the walk more comfortable.

After about 5 to 6 hours of trekking, you will arrive in Jagat. This village is a bit bigger, with more houses and guesthouses. You will stay in a guesthouse where you can relax and enjoy a warm meal. Jagat is a good place to rest after several days of trekking. You can reflect on the beautiful sights and experiences of the Tsum Valley. Tomorrow, you will continue your journey, heading back to the main road where your adventure will start to wind down.

Day 13: Trek to Machha Khola (930 meters)

On Day 13, you will leave Jagat and begin your trek towards Machha Khola, which is lower in altitude. The walk will be a bit easier as you move downhill. The path will take you through beautiful forests, along rivers, and across small bridges. You will pass by several villages where people are busy with their daily work, like farming and taking care of animals.

As you walk, the weather will become warmer since you are going to a lower altitude. You will also notice the landscape changing from the tall mountains of the Tsum Valley to a greener and more forested area. The air will feel fresh and comfortable.

The trek today will take about 5 to 6 hours. When you reach Machha Khola, you will see the village sitting by the river. It is a peaceful place with a few guesthouses where you can rest. After your long day of walking, you can enjoy a warm meal and relax. Machha Khola is a nice spot to take a break before heading back to Kathmandu. Tomorrow, you will continue your journey towards the next stop.

Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

On Day 14, you will leave Machha Khola and begin your drive back to Kathmandu. The journey will be a long one, taking you through the beautiful countryside of Nepal. As you travel, you will pass by small villages, green fields, and rivers. The road winds through the hills and valleys, giving you more views of the mountains you trekked through.

The drive will take about 6 to 7 hours, so you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the scenery from the vehicle. You may also see farmers working in their fields or people crossing the road with animals. The landscape will change as you get closer to Kathmandu, with more buildings and signs of city life.

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will feel the difference in the atmosphere. The city will be busy and lively, with lots of people and traffic. You will stay in a comfortable hotel where you can rest after your long journey. You can spend the evening relaxing or exploring the city. This is the last night of your trek, so you can reflect on your amazing adventure in the Tsum Valley.

Day 15: Free Day in Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

On Day 15, you will have a free day to relax and enjoy Kathmandu. After your amazing trek, this day is perfect for exploring the city at your own pace. You can visit some of Kathmandu’s famous places, like the old temples, markets, and beautiful gardens. The city is full of history and culture, so there’s a lot to see.

If you enjoy shopping, you can visit the local shops and buy souvenirs to remember your trek. You can find things like handmade crafts, clothing, and jewelry that are unique to Nepal. The streets are lively, and you will have a chance to experience the local lifestyle.

In the evening, you will gather with your fellow trekkers for a farewell dinner. This is a special time to reflect on the journey, share stories, and celebrate the experiences you had during the trek. It will be a fun and memorable evening. After the dinner, you can rest at your hotel before your flight back home. It’s the perfect way to end your Tsum Valley trek and remember all the wonderful places and people you met along the way.

Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu (1,400 meters)

On Day 16, it will be time to say goodbye to Nepal. After your incredible journey through the Tsum Valley, you will prepare for your departure. Depending on your flight time, you may have some free time in the morning to relax or do a final walk around Kathmandu. You can enjoy the views of the city or grab a last-minute souvenir.

When it's time, your guide will help you get to the airport. The drive will give you one last chance to see the busy streets of Kathmandu. At the airport, you will check in for your flight and prepare to head home.

As you board the plane, you will think about all the amazing memories you’ve made during your trek. From the beautiful mountains to the warm-hearted people, the Tsum Valley has left a lasting impression. Your adventure may be over, but the memories will stay with you forever.

It is customary in Nepal to tip your lead guides and filled crew . You can give tips to your lead guide end of your trip, which will then be shared with the whole team. As part of our transparency initiative, the lead guide will distribute the tips to the guides and porters in your presence. A good rule of thumb is to budget around $ 180 USD per client you need to collect tips, and although the amount you give is entirely your choice.
